Location
Kibosho Luxury Resort is located in the Kilimanjaro region of North Eastern Tanzania. The closest village is Kifuni, which lies in the Kibosho ward of Moshi’s rural area.
Getting There
26km from Moshi town, Kibosho Luxury Resort is some 40 minutes drive from town. Situated at 1400 meters above sea level, in a tropical rainforest, Kibosho Luxury Resort enjoys cool weather and plenty of refreshing rain. However, the road still remains accessible to cars all year round but avoids the throngs of tourists as it’s not on any public transport route.
From Tropical Rainforest to Arctic Zone
The resort is close to the border of Kilimanjaro National Park. With easy access via the Umbwe gate (only 200 meters from our door!), to the Umbwe route of Mount Kilimanjaro. The largest free standing mountain in the world, Kili, as she is informally referred to, is Africa's tallest peak and is an ecological world in miniature. It supports a unique combination of eco-climatic zones that takes you from steaming jungles, through verdant heaths and moorlands to an alpine desert and finally an arctic zone complete with a glacial summit. Each ecological zone has its own unique climate and collection of flora and fauna.
Climate
Influenced by the prevailing trade winds, there are two rainy seasons per year. The wet season runs from March to May during which it rains around the mountain base and snow accumulates on its peak. The dry season runs from late June through September during which the nights are cool and days are completely clear. During the short rainy period of October to December, there are showers during the day, yet the night and mornings remain clear with excellent visibility of the peak of mount Kilimanjaro.
January and February are usually dry, warm and clear with brief rain showers that provides for good climbing conditions.
